REGISTRATION

In order for an applicant to be successfully registered, one must make an application. These registration requirements are pursuant to Sections 15, 16 and 17 of the VSVP Act 2011. Thus, one is required to have the following:

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATES

  • National Identification Card of Kenyan Origin (Original and Copy)
  • KCSE Certificate (Original and Copy)
  • College/University Certificate (Original and Copy)
  • Application Form
  • Oath
  • Receipt/Card from a professional body (KVA for Vet Surgeons, KVPA/KASPA/AHTTAK for Vet Paraprofessionals)
  • Passport Photo
  • Certificate of Temporary Registration (KVB Intern Certificate) – This does not apply to applicants who graduated before year 2016
  • Registration Fee (determined by year of completion of internship)
  • Proof of successful completion of internship, be successfully assessed and recommended for registration.

 

N/B: A KCSE result slip will not be accepted as a substitute for the KCSE Certificate.

 

Payment Instructions

Vet Surgeons (BVM Degree Holders): If graduation year (2021) is the same as the application year (2021), then they shall pay application fee for one year which is 4000sh. 

But if the registration year is different, then they shall pay from the registration year up to the current year (e.g. graduation was 2014 and registration year is 2017, then they shall pay from 2014 to 2018. 2014+2015+2016+2017+2018 = 5 years = 20,000sh)

 

Vet Technologists (Bsc. Degree and Diploma Holders): If graduation year (2021) is the same as the application year (2021), then they shall pay application fee for one year which is 2000sh.

But if the registration year is different, then they shall pay from the registration year up to the current year (e.g. graduation was 2014 and registration year is 2017, then they shall pay from 2014 to 2018. 2014+2015+2016+2017+2018 = 5 years = 10,000sh)

 

Vet Technicians (Certificate Holders): If graduation year (2021) is the same as the application year (2021), then they shall pay application fee for one year which is 1000sh.

But if the registration year is different, then they shall pay from the registration year up to the current year (e.g. graduation was 2014 and registration year is 2017, then they shall pay from 2014 to 2018. 2014+2015+2016+2017+2018 = 5 years = 5,000sh)

 

NOTE: Veterinary Surgeons who have graduated before 2013 shall pay at a rate of Kshs. 1,000 from the year of graduation up to 2012 and continue to pay at a rate of Kshs. 4,000 from 2013 up to the current year. 

Veterinary Paraprofessionals who have graduated in the year 2013 and before shall pay the registration fees from 2013 up to the current year e.g. From 2013 up to 2021 shall require a payment of 6 years (18,000 for vet technologists and 9000 for vet technicians).

VETERINARY TECHNOLOGISTS - DIPLOMA

VETERINARY TECHNICIANS - CERTIFICATE

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF CERTIFICATE IN ANIMAL HEALTH GRADUATES

  • National Identification Card (Original and Copy)
  • KCSE Certificate (Original and Copy)
  • Certificate in either a Post-secondary training course in animal health lasting at least two years OR qualification in animal husbandry, range management or wildlife health and has undergone a course of not less than one year in animal health prescribed by the Board. (Original and Copy)
  • Application Form (Form 3)
  • Oath
  • Receipt/Card from a professional body (KVPA/AHTTAK/KASPA for veterinary paraprofessionals)
  • Passport Photo
  • Certificate of Temporary Registration (KVB Intern Certificate) – This does not apply to applicants who graduated before the year 2016
  • Application Fee of Kshs. 1,000. (link to mode of payment – mpesa/bank details)

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF KENYAN GRADUATES WHO HAVE STUDIED IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES

  • Written Application by the applicant
  • Certificate from an institution recognized by CUE (if said document is not in the English language, it must have a translation)
  • Duly Filled examination form (once their case has been considered by the Board)
  • Application fee of Kshs. 9,500 (link to mode of payment – mpesa/bank details)
  • Passport Photo.
  • Certificate of Temporary Registration (KVB Intern Certificate) after successful completion of Internship – This does not apply to applicants who graduated before the year 2016

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF FOREIGN VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS 

  • Application Form (Form 24) to be filled by the Institution representing the foreign practitioner.
  • Academic testimonials (if said document is not in the English language, it must have a translation)
  • Registration certificate issued by the regulatory body in the country of origin (if said document is not in the English language, it must have a translation)
  • Professional association certificate (if said document is not in the English language, it must have a translation)
  • Letter of good professional conduct
  • Identification document (Such as ID/Passport)
  • Passport Photo
  • Application fee of $1,000 (link to mode of payment – mpesa/bank details).
  • Documents must be certified by the applicant’s representative embassy from the country of origin
  • Determination of competence as deemed fit by the Board.


 

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF REGISTERED PRACTITIONERS WHO ARE UPGRADING FROM ONE REGISTRABLE CADRE TO ANOTHER

  • National Identification Card (Original and Copy)
  • KCSE Certificate (Original and Copy)
  • New College/University Degree/Diploma/Certificate (Original and Copy)
  • Application Form
  • Oath
  • Receipt/Card from a professional body (KVA/KVPA/AHTTAK/KASPA)
  • Passport Photo
  • Certificate of Temporary Registration (KVB Intern Certificate) – This does not apply to applicants who graduated before the year 2016
  • Submission of the old KVB registration certificate.
  • Receipt of paid retention fees up to the current year.
  • Application Fee of Kshs. 1,000 (link to mode of payment – mpesa/bank details).

 

N/B: For those who are upgrading within the paraprofessional cadres, internship is only done once.

 

Deregistration

The Board may cancel registration following the conclusion of an inquiry under Part VI of this Act, and the decision of cancellation shall be communicated to the person affected within a reasonable time but not later than 21 days from the date of cancellation and that person shall return the certificate of registration to the Board within three months of that communication Section 18 (1).

Any person whose name does not appear in the relevant register after the period specified under Section 20 (1) (link to VSVP Act 2011) shall be deemed not to be registered under this Act. The Board shall recall the registration certificate of a person who has been deregistered and that person shall surrender back to the Board the certificate within three months from the date of recall. 

 

Reinstatement

The reinstatement of the name of a deregistered person into the register and return of his certificate shall be subject to the provisions of regulations pursuant to Section 43 of VSVP Act 2011
